Maintenance Policy **Oct 2010

EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1ST 2010

To encourage better pet care and to avoid an over all price increase during a recession we are instituting a new policy regarding our base prices in direct relationship to the care and maintenance your pet recieves on an ongoing basis.

All pets that are considered "properly maintained" by GroomingDales will not be affected by this new policy. You will not experience a change in what you pay, unless your pet experiences an extenuateing circumstance that puts his/her coat in unmaintained condition.

All pets that do not recieve correct maintenance to the skin and coat in between groomings or pets that do not get groomed on a regular enough basis to maintain good skin and coat condition will be charged 20% more than the set price for maintained pets.

The maintenance policy is being put in place because of the decline in the frequency with which some pets are groomed. The extra expense of paying staff to work harder and longer to groom these pets is unbalenced against our sales reciepts. The pet owner now has the ability to avoid a price increase.e

What qualifies as a maintained pet?

  • pets that are professionally groomed every 6 weeks, or as often as the coat type requires.  Clients that do ultra frequent grooming. (every two weeks)
  • pets that are not matted at all.
  • pets that are longhaired or softcoated that are brushed routinely in between groomings.
  • pets with healthy skin, coat, and ears
  • pets with a clippered/scissored pattern that is clearly visible and does not require being "reset".
  • Any long or soft coated breeds that come in for a "Brush and Bath" in between haircuts.
  •  Any pet cleared as a maintained pet by GroomingDales staff.

What qualifies as an unmaintained pet?

  • pets with matted hair of any kind.
  • pets loosing an excessive amount of coat (blowing coat)
  • pets with a clippered/scissored pattern that is so overgrown that the pattern must be reset.
  • Any pet that requires a double or triple bath to get completely clean.
  • long or soft coated breeds that have been bathed without being brushed and combed.
  • pets that have been "top brushed" and are still matted close to the skin.
  • pets with untreated skin problems
  • pets with untreated ear infections/cronic ears.
  • any pet that requires a degreaser/griminator wash before salon quality shampoo can be used.
  • pets that have not been professionally groomed in more than 8 weeks or as often as the  breed requires.
  • any pet that recieves a haircut that reduces the coat length by more than 3 inches. (entire body & legs)
  • Any pet logged as an unmaintained pet by GroomingDales staff.

This new policy DOES NOT negate Dematting, Mass Seasonal Shedding, or Handling charges. You will still have these fees as per our usual fee schedule if excessive time is spent on these services.
